One of North Carolina's earliest schools for women, the Asheboro Female Academy was established in 1839 by Randolph County citizens passionate about the need for high quality education for the area’s young women – including education in arts, crafts and music.

Today, the restored 1839 Academy serves as an educational and cultural resource that explores the past, while educating and inspiring today’s generation and generations to come.
